September 15 - Espirit De Corps

Ok guys, we are now at the tail of the FF, this is the 2nd last movie unless I recieve another movie tonight, which doesn't look promising.

But if that's the case, I think this movie should make up for it.
I'm telling you right now, I'm a big fan of Sergon's work, and this is no exception at all. This could very well be the best movie I have seen from him, and it is quite simply awesome.

I hope you guys enjoy!

He probably couldn't get it done in time.
But it'll most likely come out soon anyway, so no biggie.

A movie directed by Sergon and written by Ben Fortier........

They're like the Spike Jonze/Charlie Kaufman combo of the 3dmm community.

Loved it. Possibly the best camerawork I've seen w/ the program.
Loved the story, loved the direction, loved the music. It was great, simple as that.

I'll write more when I get the chance, but for now I'll say that the negotiator bit was damn well done.

I'd like to start off by complimenting myself. That is the best voice acting I have ever eeeeeeeever done. Like normally I'm horrible, but I fuckin rocked in this movie.

as for this movie, I was gonna try to be bad ass and rebellious and be like, "this movie sucked!!" just to be all bad ass, since like it's cool to go against the bandwagon, but on second thought I'm not gonna do that.

Though I am gonna say, "my review is coming soon"

Wow, I hadn't seen alot of Sergon's work, but I'm glad I downloaded this one. Ben Fortier is a really good writer. This truely has to be the best film of the festival. I haven't seen a movie this scenimatic since Doom 2. Great job guys, you pwned the Film Festival. I really look forward to seeing a sequal to this movie soon. The one problem I had with it, was the music. It's the same clips that everyone uses, Gladiator and other scores we've heard a thousand times. If you guys need help music wise next time, you know who to ask.

5/5.

There's only one way I can describe this movie: AMAZING!!
This is deffinatly the best Film Festival movie! Sergon has done an awesome job on this one!

The plot is strong. I guy called Jack is part of an international secret team, who deal with terrorists around the world. The film is divided into two perspectives. In the very beginning Jack actually confronts a group of terrorist. Later on he is the one who's telling the story to someone else. I think this deffinatly a strong piece of direction which gives this movie a solid story.

With a great story comes great characters, at least that's usual the case. This movie is no exception. The main person Jack is brilliantly put forward. The viewer gets the know the person, his fears and how he operates in the field.

Sound wise this movie is amazing too. A wide variety of music plays in the back. From a jazzy kind of intro to strong film music near the end. Great sound effects, awesome voice actors and strong dialogue.

Overall this movie is fantastic! This movie just deserves a high rating! So that's exactly what I'm going to give it.

9/10

Thanks for the comments everyone, its really appreciated. I know not too many people know who I am because I don't go on the BB very often, but I'm Ben Fortier, and I've been a member of the community for about 2-3 years now. (You'd never know because I have like, 100 posts, heh, but I had an older name before this.) I wrote My Last Day in Normandy which can be found at Explode Productions.

If you guys enjoyed this one, you're going to love the next one. I'm working really hard on the script, and every hole left in the plot is going to be filled up. You guys will love it. Again, thanks for the comments, and any questions can be emailed to me at SlaynSoldat@hotmail.com, or AIM (AliceUnChained87). Thanks again folks!

Wow. Thank you for all the comments/reviews.
This was supposed to be Ep1, as Ben originally wrote, but I realised it would work better as a prologue for the main part of the story. That way we could give a proper introduction to the story itself and see how a movie like this would work based on your feedback.

I admit I don't like making sequels, so it was going to be tough for me to make an actual triology, as originaly intended. So the last two episodes will be bound together in the next installement.
Look out for the next EDC movie.

Yes, Ching did an excellent job right here. I was amazed how well it worked in the movie. Some credit to Eric too, he has terrific voice acting skills, he played two characters, and both worked out great.

I'll be sure to contact you next time, Ramza

Glad you people enjoyed the movie feel free to post more comments/reviews

That was excellent, definitely the best movie in this festival so far (haven't seen all the movies yet though). There's a reason Sergon is one of my favorite directors, and this movie shows it pretty good. The script was very well written, except from a few lines here and there, and gave the story a nice kick-off. Great camerawork and amazing scenery. Another thing I really love about your movies, is the music, which suited this movie really well, I think. I always end up downloading nearly all the songs you use in your movies, heh heh. Can't wait for the next part!

I know I'm probably gonna soud like a dick, but I didn't like it.
The animation was good, but the direction was real sloppy and I was really disapointed cause Sergon's last movie The King was done so well. The camera angles were just crap, really, there were too many tilted close ups in conversations that were way too over the top and dramatic for the context they were used in. The only stand out part was the hostage scene with Jeff and Jeremy, it was the best in the movie, it had the best acting, the best camera and the animation and music suited. It didn't seem out of place, but it was noticebly better than everthing else. The other thing was just the dialogue, some of it was just really dumb yankee doodle stuff and had too much swearing.
"Don't fucking stand there saying 'what the fuck' you fucking moron, your fucking hostage is dead and 'you' are gonna get us the fuck in there"

The voices seemed a bit muffled in the cafe scenes.

One thing I liked was the blinded shootout's outcome. You see the bulletholes near the guy's head, and you're like "did he miss too?" then you see the baddy and you're like "OH SNAP".

And Jeff's voicing was extrordinarily good. I think he actually...     * gasp * tried this time! At first I was like "Who's this?" and then "...oh...". You've improved.

Anyway, to sum this all up, I liked it. Quite a bit.

Well, to each his own then. However, the swearing was made to make it seem realistic. All of Jack's (Well, except the cheesy stuff like "I always knew you'd die talking") lines were things I would have said. I dunno about you, but I have a dirty mouth. I wanted to make the movie half hollywood, and half realistic. The dialouge (as you can see), was half hollywood (Duke-Nukem style cheesy lines) and half realistic (over-use of the word "Fuck").

The conversations are hard to animate in 3dmm, because its hard to keep the viewers' attention throughout the whole dialogue. There's no facial expression and the only thing that can tell you a character is talking is the body movement. Thats why I tried to use different camera angles, flashbacks and close-ups to try to make it more interesting to watch. And maybe close-ups seemed too dramatic sometimes, but they also served to emphasize some of the dialogue.

A very, very slick movie from Sergon here.

The directing was definitely the highlight of this movie to me, veeery nice directorial competency, methinks. Lots of interesting/unique angles, and very crafty ways of fooling the viewer here and there.

While I did feel that the jazzy intro music did not feel in place (Perhaps if I had a feel for Cowboy Beebop...?), at other times the music did really help accentuate the scenes' emotional grasp. I actually DID feel tense at several parts, I was really impressed! That's probally a 3dmm first for me. But yeah, several scenes (The baghead dude jumping out; negotiation talks) really had a very good, tense feel to them, and a big kudos to that. Some of the voices I felt were really good, as was much of the dialogue. I did feel that the main character's voice in the cafe scenes didn't seem to fit much at all, but that's not a real biggie I guess.

The animation was oftentimes quite good, as seems to often be the case with Sergon. While I wish I could've been allowed to toy with that swat dude, he, along with several other 2d (Shadows/helicopters/whatever else) objects moved quite nicely, giving a unique depth (Or lack thereof) to this film. The greatest scene was near the end with the dust coming from his shotgun.. MM MMMM that was sweet.

But yeah, definitely worth the download, and it makes me wish my computer didn't suck donkey nuts....

8.5/10
A very nice, unique movie here, excelling in both cinematography and and animation

I liked that a lot. Great animation, extremely impressive - the only downfall was, in my opinion, the screenplay. The dialogue was weak, the situations were kinda pointless and not as exciting as real life battle situations, and the team seemed really amateurish.

I'd like to see Sergon direct a film where somebody else is writing... it'd be interesting. He has a good grasp of suspenseful direction.
