Angel
Directed by: Andrew Salter
Released: May 2005
Preview A brilliant first movie from our very own Andrew Salter, following the journey of a boy called Junior. Junior is contacted by an angel who gives Junior the responsibility of a particular mission. The plot is fairly shaky and the addition of small sub-plots doesn't really provide any support. I found the apparent and love interest between the angel and Junior was a little bizarre and random and ultimately, unnecessary. The same goes for the face-off between Junior and The Ku Klux Klan. Juniors victorious speech worked it's magic way too idealistically - but hey, this is 3dmm, not Hollywood. The 'feel' of Angel was very much fresh - a charm that only a new director can assume. It had an untainted air about it; it is honest and uncorrupt. The fact that Andrew is relatively new in the community would largely explain this. Andrew made use of the benefits v3dmm has to offer directors. Everything fits well together, and the style Andrew went for is very much true to the movie itself. Somethings weren't brilliantly constructed and the animation wasn't always the definition of 'slick 'N smooth'. This only boils down to the lack of experience Andrew has with the program, and it is more than likely that he will improve. It is obvious that he has a certain skill, and for a first movie this is an outstanding effort. Review by Will Cheyney.

Echondria: Prologue
Directed by: Andrew Salter
Released: August 2005
Preview A little short to prepare us for Andrew's film "Echondria", it sets up the story and gets us ready for the full movie. Scenery-wise, it varies a little. Some scenes are very detailed, while others seem to be quite sparse. Animation is good, but the camera movement can be a little shaky. The voices were mostly very good, but the Ambassador's voice seemed kind of funny. However, the plot seems very interesting and sets the story up for lots of action in the full thing. The special effects were very nice, one of the best parts of this film. The short isn't too long, and the full movie looks like it could be great, so this is a recommended download.
