Far West
Directed by: Marc Fellerman
Released: July 2003
Preview A very, very well crafted short here, despite the fact that it only took a few hours to create. Reminiscent of Jordi Visser's 'Stranger' movies, this movie borrows the Western theme and Maltby-esqe visuals often associated with the series. Marc has created something that isn't by any means astonishing, but it strongly entertains - you won't find your eyes wondering off the screen. Again, plot-wise the movie shares strong similarities with the 'Stranger' movies. Two characters meet up in the desert for a duel. Very simple, but it's always the basics that work so well. The accompanying soundtrack fitted the movie extremely well and really set a good tone. As I said, the scenery was very much like the stuff Maltby churned out all those years ago - simple, but appropriately detailed. This is by no means a bad thing, and in some respects, it is still my favourite '3dmm look'. On a similar note, the camera movements and character stances were smooth and nicely done. A very nice, well-rounded short that I recommend to everyone. Review by Will Cheyney.
